To celebrate World Environment Day 2022, Nickelodeon has partnered with the United Nations in India to encourage children to envision a greener future. The joint initiative aims to highlight how, through individual actions, people can reduce their carbon footprint.
Leveraging India’s existing UN school network, Nickelodeon’s Nicktoons amplify the “Act Now” program. The children’s entertainment network produced two animated shorts, Kaagaz Ka Ghar which highlights the conflicts of the human-wildlife condition, and Paani Ka Ghar which focuses on marine and plastic pollution. Both stories feature children taking the initiative to become climate heroes and effect positive change by teaching adults important lessons about climate action.
Nina Elavia Jaipuria, Head – Hindi Mass Entertainment and Kids TV Network, Viacom18, said, “Nickelodeon has always been focused on empowering children in the most meaningful way through innovative initiatives. are the true agents of change in society, we felt it was crucial that children understand the importance of a greener future. We are very proud to partner with the United Nations on the occasion of the World Day With the power of our franchise and our adorable Nicktoons, we’ll bring the message of #OnlyOneEarth to life for as many kids and parents as possible.
Welcoming the initiative, Shombi Sharp, UN Resident Coordinator in India, added, “On this World Environment Day, the United Nations in India is thrilled to launch a partnership with Nickelodeon, empowering and inspiring children to become climate champions from an early age.
