Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU), located in Wenzhou, China, one of three Chinese-American universities along with NYU Shanghai and Duke Kunshan University, is approved by the Ministry of Education of China. Launched in 2012, WKU offers a unique higher education model in partnership with Kean University, a comprehensive public university in the state of New Jersey that is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. WKU sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and currently enrolls approximately 3,500 undergraduate students, and is now in the midst of rapid growth that will bring enrollment to 7,000 students over the next five years. All instructions are in English and all programs are provided by Kean University. In addition to its current 18 undergraduate programs, WKU has been approved by the Ministry of Education to offer 8 master’s programs and 3 doctoral programs. About the position:
The College of Science and Technology is seeking two tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professors in Environmental Science. One position will focus on meteorology and environmental modeling and the second position will focus on hydrogeology and geology. Tenure-track positions are full-time, 10-month assignments. Tenure-track faculty are required to teach 24 credits per academic year; service to the academic and/or professional community; and conduct research. Tenure applicants must demonstrate academic ability and an active research program. Teaching release time is available upon request to support the development of external research grants and other important research efforts. The University will provide start-up grants to help applicants start their research programs. Fluency in English is required.
A doctorate is required in the relevant field(s) for tenure-track positions. ABD will be considered for Assistant Professor positions with a completion date prior to the effective date of employment. Fluency in English and ability to teach upper division courses related to hydrogeology, geology, meteorology and modeling to general environmental science courses. Tenure candidates must plan and conduct research and develop extramural research programs involving students, which is essential for tenure and promotion. Tenure track applicants must also publish peer-reviewed journal articles in high-impact journals in fields closely related to environmental science. In addition to student-engaging teaching and research duties, candidates are also expected to contribute to program growth, including but not limited to curriculum development, program evaluation, student recruitment/council, supervision of senior projects, internship opportunities, undergraduate research experiences (REU), etc.
Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, and online classes. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to enhance the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. All faculty may be required to teach general education courses as needed. Opportunities are also available to teach disciplinary support courses.

The faculty positions at WKU offer:
- $68,000 to $75,000 for assistant professors; $75,000 to $85,000 for associate professors. The salary of extraordinary candidates is determined on a case-by-case basis.
