LYNCHBURG, Virginia, October 28, 2021– (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) today announced a contract with an estimated cap of approximately $ 21 billion over a 10-year order period with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for environmental management operations at the Savannah River (SRS) site in South Carolina.
The DOE announced the award of the integrated mission completion contract for the Savannah River site to Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC), which is a joint venture led by a subsidiary of BWXT and includes subsidiaries of Amentum and Fluorine. The team includes two shortlisted small companies, DBD and Wesworks (a woman-owned company), which respectively provide specialist expertise in modeling and project control.

The scope of work of the contract includes the stabilization / disposal of liquid waste and potentially the management and stabilization of nuclear material, among other requirements. SRS is a 310 square mile site that encompasses parts of South Carolina’s Aiken, Barnwell, and Allendale counties and is bordered to the west by the Savannah River and Georgia.
