Egypt, Migratory Soaring Birds Project Celebrates World Environment Day in Wadi Degla Reserve

CAIRO – June 10, 2022: Celebrating World Environment Day which falls on June 5, the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, the Migratory Soaring Birds Project in Egypt and Environment Without Borders organized a celebratory event in the Wadi Degla Reserve, Maadi, south of Cairo to raise awareness about migratory birds and government efforts in this area.

The World Environment Day celebration falls under the slogan “One Earth”, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.

The Soaring Birds project is funded by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by the Environmental Affairs Agency in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program and Bird Life International, the statement added.

“The celebration aims to showcase examples of national efforts and student ideas that help protect the environment, live in harmony with nature and realize the principles of sustainability in our daily lives,” said the Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad in the statement.

She added that the celebration is a continuation of the ministry’s efforts to open new, non-traditional channels of communication with the community to support environmental work.
