She mentioned the need for a collective effort of individuals and other stakeholders to coherently address environmental issues and take wise action to protect and improve the environment.

She said it has become necessary for business entities to put in place environmental risk management systems.

Addressing the suspected chemical pollution that occurred in Tema Newtown on May 10, 2022, she said the Agency was still tracking the source of the pollution.

She said the agency’s Environmental Quality Department had taken a sample from the affected areas and carried out an analysis, but the source of the chemical had not yet been revealed.

She said the difficulty in determining the source of the chemical could be because the sampling was not done when the substance was in the atmosphere.
