The Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program in Environmental Science and Policy at the School of International and Public Affairs is seeking an intern for the Spring 2022 semester.

Job description: The MPA Associate Director of Environmental Science and Policy seeks an intern to support the graduate program. Among other tasks, the intern will provide classroom support to ESP teachers. The intern will also write content for the program’s website and recruitment materials, prepare for summer orientation and information sessions, and help facilitate the logistics of the program’s workshop course. The intern will also assist with staffing and coordination of events and meetings. Finally, the intern will support faculty and program staff as needed.

Requirements: Applicants must be full-time students at Columbia University and able to work on campus. Preference will be given to students with a background or interest in environmental and sustainability issues.

Required Skills : The position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral skills. The candidate must be able to work well under pressure, coordinate various responsibilities and exercise independent judgement. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Zoom. A first administrative experience is preferred. Applicants should be highly motivated and detail oriented. A strong interest in the environment and sustainable development is preferred, but not required. This is a social position with regular interaction with the ESP class, which helps expand your Columbia network.

Pay and hours: $18/hour; Applicants must be able to work 35 hours per week, starting as early as possible with the option to continue through the fall semester.
