Kakao achieves the international standard of environmental management system


Kakao has become the first in the industry to achieve ISO 14001, an international standard for environmental management systems, and with this, the company will commit to further strengthen its environmental management.

Kakao held an ISO 14001 certification award ceremony at its Pangyo office located in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, on April 9, attended by three officials from the Korea Management Registrar (KMR), including the CEO Hwang Eun-ju, as well as four of its own members. According to KMR, Kakao is the first web portal and information-based Internet service company in South Korea to obtain ISO 14001 certification.

ISO 14001 was established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to assess and certify whether companies regard environmental management as an important standard for their business management and also systematically manage and improve their environmental management activities .

Kakao regards environmental friendly management as an important standard for its work system and business operations. This has enabled the company to obtain its ISO 14001 certification in recognition of its concrete environmental improvement objectives in accordance with the laws and directives in force while systematically carrying out action plans.

Kakao is also currently implementing various goals through its internal environmental working group to establish a sustainable environmental management system. Having achieved ISO 14001, the company is gearing up to achieve various other environment-related international standards and as such, it is also building an eco-friendly data center, which is expected to be completed in 2023. , to contribute to the transition to a low-carbon economy through environmentally friendly business activities.
