The School of Biological Sciences, in collaboration with the Institute for Global Food Security (IGFS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an outstanding candidate for the position of Term Lecturer (0.8 FTE ) in environmental management and sustainable development. This is a maternity replacement CDD for a period of 10 months.

The School of Biological Sciences, in collaboration with IGFS, provides and facilitates a dynamic and integrated research environment, conducting globally competitive and sustainable research that addresses major challenges and develops solutions to many of the global challenges we face today.

In the most recent research exercise (REF2021), we are ranked No. 1 in the UK for Agriculture, Food and Veterinary Science with 94% of research in these “first class” areas. plan” or “international excellence”.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and support the school and institute in providing high quality support to students in line with our teaching and learning strategy, making full use of innovative digital platforms . The successful candidate will conduct independent research in line with the research strategy of the school/institute.

The successful candidate must have and your CV/cover letter (or application form) must clearly demonstrate that you have:

  • Honors degree or equivalent in biological sciences, environmental management, sustainable development or in a field related to the objective of the position.
  • Doctorate or equivalent in a field related to the objective of the position.

An experience and a research profile that complement the research priorities of the disciplinary groups of the School and the Institute for Global Food Security with:

  • A minimum of 3 years of research experience in a relevant field
  • A publication record (or be about to publish) in peer-reviewed journals/conference papers
  • Research experience in environmental management and sustainable development
  • Experience in developing research methodologies, models, approaches and techniques (established speaker only)
  • Experience presenting at national and international meetings and conferences (established speaker only).

This is a 10 month, 0.8 FTE part-time term position.

Fixed-term contract positions are available for the period indicated initially, but in special circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to the availability of funds.
