DJEDDAH / ABHA – Saudi Arabia joins the world in commemorating World Environment Day, which falls on June 5, due to the Kingdom attaching great importance to protecting and preserving the environment and caring for its natural components.

It is a consolidation of its efforts and initiatives in favor of the planet’s ecosystem and biodiversity, by highlighting environmental issues; organize conferences and activities that promote the idea of ​​preserving and ensuring a healthy environment.

The Kingdom has taken strategic decisions to preserve the environment, the most important of which has been the establishment of Special Forces for Environmental Security, which is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

This is aimed at improving the quality of life and building a society whose members enjoy a healthy lifestyle and an environment that allows them to live in a positive and attractive environment.

This in turn promotes the environment in coordination with the relevant “safety and environment” authorities with the aim of activating and enforcing environmental regulations, and fulfilling comprehensive tasks and responsibilities covering all areas. important for the environment throughout the Kingdom.

The environmental sector in the Kingdom enjoys special attention, continued support and care from the Guardian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman as a duty and responsibility religious, national and humanitarian towards future generations.

World Environment Day is a global opportunity to review efforts and assess all actions taken to preserve the environment.

It is also an opportunity to review the roles and goals that have been achieved to achieve a status that reflects the Kingdom’s position on the international stage, especially in light of the global concern that environmental issues see as one of the most important components of improving the quality of life and indicators of sustainable development.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has succeeded in supporting efforts to achieve the level of environmental awareness in society and in delivering awareness messages that call attention to the environment, amid the Kingdom’s successful experiences at local, continental and global levels to preserve the environment, in a way that improves quality of life and sustainability indicators in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

In addition, the ministry has taken a number of strategic decisions to preserve the environment and build a society whose members enjoy a healthy lifestyle and an environment that allows people to live in a positive and attractive atmosphere, under the supervision and direction of King Salman and the Crown Prince. Mohammed.

Hence the founding of the Saudi Society of Environmental Sciences at King Abdulaziz University, which was a true translation of the leaders’ interest in environmental affairs and their protection through universities and professional institutions.

This creation of the company has enabled the university to gain an advanced position internationally by organizing scientific meetings, training courses, workshops, expedition trips, educational seminars and awareness raising on the ‘environment, in order to raise the scientific development of the environment, scientific ideology in the fields of the environment, the dissemination of environmental awareness, and provide scientific, theoretical and applied advice in the field of science of environment for many areas of development in the Kingdom.

The Company seeks to benefit the community through the results of scientific research to enrich culture and awareness in the field of the environment and to spread scientific awareness of the environment to preserve the environment and prevent or reduce its losses by organizing activities at international environmental events, outreach exhibitions, and student activities, attracting talent and embracing creative ideas, in a way that advances the Kingdom’s aspirations and interest in them. environmental affairs.

In addition, the Saudi Environment Society aims to create sustainable development programs, enrich volunteer work, and strengthen the role of the private sector in serving environmental issues as it relates to environmental protection and preservation through a true partnership with all target groups in society in accordance with global standards and international environmental standards, community values ​​and principles of the Islamic religion.

World Environment Day is a global platform to raise awareness of the importance of nature conservation. It also aims to reduce global warming and desertification. This international occasion was first announced in 1974 in Stockholm and is celebrated annually by more than 100 countries around the world, including Saudi Arabia.
