Eastern Mining Co. employees have undergone training under the International Environmental Standards Requirements Program. Solntsevsky Coal Mine will implement an environmental management system to reduce its impact on the environment.

“Each division will identify the environmental aspects of its operations and develop measures to reduce or potentially eliminate the environmental impact,” said Elena Koltina, chief environmentalist of Eastern Mining Co.

The environmental management system involves a conscious approach to the least impact on the environment. For example, in a warehouse, goods are received daily. When received, the packaging is removed, which then accumulates in municipal solid waste. Therefore, the company introduces a separate accumulation of waste paper. Secondary raw materials will be transferred for processing. This will not only reduce the impact on the soil, but also introduce a culture of sustainable resource use.

The introduction of an environmental management system at the Solntsevsky coal mine will allow the company to be certified for compliance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 in the future.
